Seven children remain critical, and one more is in a serious condition, with all the injured suffering from burns, some to more than 50% of their bodies.

Five of those slightly hurt in the blast have been allowed home from hospital after treatment. A total of 42 people were attended to by the emergency services.

The regional police, Los Mossos d’Esquadra, have confirmed that the explosion was caused by natural gas.
