Three men faced fines imposed by the National Court, but have been found not guilty.

The two journalists, José Antonio Rodríguez González and Javier Luis Ripa, and cartoonist, Nicolas Juan Lococo, from the Deia and Gara magazines have been found not guilty of causing serious insult to King Juan Carlos in Spain.

The Penal department of the National Court decision was reported as being very close. The accused had picked up on a story of the King hunting a bear in a Russian National Park, and the claim that the bear was made drunk on vodka and honey to make the hunt easier.

The prosecutor in the case, Pedro Rubira, called for a fine of 10,800 € for each of the accused considering that a serious insult had occurred with a photo montage and an item titled ‘The tribulations of Yogi bear’ in which they described the Monarch as being irresponsible.
