The Minister for Public Administration, Elena Salgado, said 33 percent of the local population is foreign.The Minister for Public Administration, Elena Salgado, was in Altea yesterday to open a new Office for Foreigners. The office will serve 138,000 immigrants in the Marina Alta and Baixa areas, who are, according to the 2007 census, 33% of the population.
It means that foreigners will no longer have to travel to Alicante for the residency and work permits, and the new office does allow for visits to be booked by appointment. 1.25 million € has been spent on the new facilities.
