RENFE Spanish railways announces new last minute cheap tickets

Discounts of up to 50 percent can be found on the Internet on the day previous to travel.

Renfe Spanish railways has announced a new low cost last minute tariff for tickets purchased the day before travel.

There will be discounts available on the Renfe website of upto 50%. However the new tickets will be not be able to be exchanged or cancelled. The company says they will be ideal for those who cost is all important, and time of travel is secondary. They say they hope to gain new clients and see a higher occupancy level on their trains.

It comes after an earlier announcement of the doubling of the number of discount ‘web’ and ‘estrella’ seats on AVE services, taking the number of cheap seats on the high speed train to 28% of the total.
