José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero warned Israel that it was not on the road to peace.

Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, has given a warning to Israel that they are not on the road to peace in the Middle East.

In an institutional declaration the Spanish Prime Minister also called for an immediate cease fire, and also offered to mediate in what he called the ‘very serious’ conflict.

Zapatero said that in no case could a population be held hostage, and that everyone must make an effort to avoid this serious spiral of violence.

The Spanish Prime Minister said that the European Union could and must come up with an efficient initiative to put in a mechanism to supervise a cease fire.

After rejecting and roundly condemning the ‘absolutely disproportionate reactions of Israel’ on the Gaza strip which he said ‘are against international human rights’, Zapatero then went on to reject the ‘irresponsible and provocative conduct’ of Hamas by breaking the cease fire. Putting this matter down to the strength of arms is a road with no exit, said Zapataro, who said a road for democracy has to be opened.

Zapatero called on the international community to react.
He said he has talked to both French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, and Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to press for an immediate cease fire.

The Spanish Prime Minister will pass on his opinions to both the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, in the next few days and to the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas, who is reported to be visiting Madrid on Thursday or Friday this week.

Rodríquez the cobbler has given a warning to Isreal? I bet they are quaking in their boots.

Proportion doesn't come into it. If someone attacks you, your family or, in this case, your country you are going to hit them with everything you have until you are sure they are not going to get up and do it again.

Isreal is showing the rest of the world how to deal with terrorism and I hope they blast Hamas to Kingdom come (or wherever it is they go).

Stick to trying to sort out your own country's problems Rodríguez and leave terrorism to the big boys.

Isreal has no right to that land. Because it was promised to them in a book they wrote, the real Palestinians have to suffer. Maybe they should pretend to find an older book that promisses the land to the Buddhists.

Give me a break. ...The man who sucked up to ETA (and got his nose blown off) is now telling Israel what to do. So what would Zapatero do if 20 or 30 rockets were launched every day from the Basque country, and exploded in the heart of Madrid? Stick his head in the sand and hope his problems disappear? Probably. He's doing that with the economy, and look what good THAT's doing.

You don't bring peace by collective punishment of millions of people. You don't stop the hatred by killing over 500 people many of them women and children. Israel is terrorising people more than Hamas, but that is not the point.
This conflict didn't start last week, it is a festering injustice dating back decades and I don't believe Israel wants peace it wants a subdued and compliant Palestinian population so that it can impose its own terms for any future agreement.

Pops! If the Basque separatists were to lob what are little more than home-made mortars into Madrid, I am sure the Spanish Government, with all its superior means at its disposal, would handle the matter proportionately; not bomb Bilbao and its citizens back to the stone age, slaughtering many hundreds of people, maiming thousands more. Your views are repugnant to any civilised human being. Israel is an evil menace. There will be no peace on earth whilst it festers.

Hamas is responsible for the death of Palestinians by hiding amongst them and firing their rockets from civilian areas.

They are just a bunch of terrorist cowards and need to be obliterated whatever the cost.

Rodríquez has no platform or strength from which to criticise. He should mind his own business.

Arnold, you twit, you stated: "If someone attacks you, your family or, in this case, your country you are going to hit them with everything you have until you are sure they are not going to get up and do it again." That is exactly what 'Hamas' are doing to the hook-nosed invader that trespassed their land decades ago. If it wasn't for the 10 million dollars a day that the U.S. gives Israel, it would not have lasted to 1960.

All the Spanish media and politicians seem to have a bias against Israel. On Monday on TV1 teletext the Israeli Army was referred to as (and I quote) 'the Jewish army is at the gates of Gaza city' which is a good example of the the anti-semitism that seems to be rife in Spain. Why doesn't Zappy make a bit more reference to the facts of the case, which are that Hamas has been firing rockets at Israel ever since they came to power and their stated aim is the total destruction of Israel.

Rodríquez doesn't understand anything. That's why he is a laughing stock in the rest of Europe and across the world.

The Isrealis will prevail over the terrorist threat to its existence despite the bias shown against it by by mindless Spanish idiots.

So, American, tell us, when ARE you going to give America back to the natives who lived there for tens of thousands of years before you white folk turned up? Oh, I forgot, you can't give it back, can you? No, you slaughtered most of them (in the name of God and gold) and put the survivors in small enclaves where they were allowed to rot away from drink and disease -- until your conscience got the better of you and you allowed them to open a couple of casinos. Very big of you, I’m sure. Now, tell us, what would you do if the INLF (Indian Nation Liberation Front) began firing rockets from one of those enclaves (casinos) into the heart of whatever two-horse hick town your parents live in, and said they wouldn’t stop firing rockets until they have all their land back? How many rockets would you find acceptable? 100, 50, 10... Or perhaps not even 1?

The most illuminating irony of this one-sided ghastly invasion are the repercussions.
The Jews (yes, that is what they are) have traded on their 'victim status' for over sixty years. It got them a country, which was never theirs. Because of their 'victim status', they positioned themselves to scream 'anti-Semite' at anyone who dared to question their land stealing, and their ferocious inhumanity.
Today the world sees them for the evil creatures they are. But stupid ones too.
Like parasites they vacuumed sympathy taxes (other peoples); they have ridden on the back of sympathy. Both have evaporated. The Iranian President's prediction is about to be realised. Israel, without aid and sympathy will evaporate. Good riddance.

Cortez, so you think the US only supports Israel? Quote - "The U.S. has provided Egypt with $1.3 billion a year in military aid since 1979, and an average of $815 million a year in economic assistance. All told, Egypt has received over $50 billion in US largesse since 1975." end quote. Thanks to - http://us.oneworld.net/

And didn't the Spanish kick out a bunch of hook-nosed invaders themselves a few hundred years ago? Let me check my history....

Yes, here it is. "On 2 January 1492, Boabdil, king of Granada – the last Muslim territory on the Iberian Peninsula – surrenders to an army of Spanish Christians, completing the re-conquest of Spain under the rule of Isabella and Ferdinand." thanks to - http://www.etoile.co.uk/Spain/Timeline_1.html

So, Cortez, if it's okay for you as a Spaniard to forgive your invaders, why can't the Palestinians forgive their invaders? Oh, but HAVE you forgiven your invaders, or are you, as a Spaniard, one of the worst racists in Europe?

Another more recent quote - "...the Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Abdesalam Baraka, accused the Spanish authorities and media of "enjoying and fomenting hatred towards 'the Moor'. He called for an end to a primitive, centuries-old hatred." end quote.

Okay, just one more - "At the beginning of the 11th century, three quarters of Spain's population was Muslim but, as soon as Ferdinand and Isabella completed the re-conquest of the country for Christianity, the Muslims were ordered out. Since then the Moor "bogeyman" has remained deep in Spain's collective psyche."

Nasty... but what has all this to do with the subject? Cortez knows, but I'll quote for him - "It's human nature to support the side that will best assuage your guilty conscience." end quote.

The usual Israeli (Jewish) con trick. Check these replies and see how they quickly try to divert the argument away from the Israeli/American carnage against the blood spattered Palestinians. They have made it a 'red Indian' issue, or a Moors issue. Gutless cowards. If the Jews are proud of what you are doing then God screams out for them to say so, not hide in tepees. Did you see the 'officers' of Israel's High Command smirking in their corridors. What wouldn't I give to shove them in a gas chamber.
