Elche man sentenced to prison for trying to pull out his wife's eye

An Elche man has been sentenced by the court in Alicante to 12 years in prison for cutting the face of his wife with a box cutter. The court heard how the 36 year old Colombian man, A.W.B.M. also tried to push out his wife’s eye with his fingers.

His attack came on August 8 last year as the couple was in the process of separation and when the accused believed she had started another relationship. It took place in the victim’s home in the Calle Pablo Picasso in Elche, when he told her he had to call to collect some work clothes.

As he attacked her he shouted ‘How long have you been with the other man?’ and ‘Joder su cara bonita’. As a result of the attack the woman lost the sight of her left eye, and suffered cuts to her face.

The aggressor was also ordered to pay the victim 103,853 € in compensation.
