Heavy snow falls have put the north of the country on alert.
Yet another cold spell has been hitting Spain with
Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country and Cataluña being placed on orange alert on Tuesday night as heavy snow falls of up to 20cms arrived and more were expected.
There has been a large fall in temperatures across the country, and snow and ice has been causing trouble for drivers. Chains are needed on many of the mountain passes in the north of the country on both the main and secondary road network.
More snow is forecast on lowlands in Cantabria, the eastern third of Andalucía and on the Balearics. Six regions of the country remain on alert for more snow - Asturias, Cantabria, País Vasco, Cataluña, Aragón and Castilla-La Mancha (but only in the province of Guadalajara).
Moderate frost inland overnight, with possible very low temperatures in the north and north east.
