The ceremony for the literature prize was saddened by the recent death of the previous winner, Francisco Casavella.
It was a glum and sad edition of the Nadal literature prizes last night, given the recent early death of the previous winner of the award, Francisco Casavella, who died on December 17 aged just 45.
Last year’s finalist Eva Díaz, read a piece from Casasvella’s winning work, ‘Lo que sé de los vampiros’.
This year’s award, and the 18,000 € prize, went to Maruja Torres, for her novel ‘Esperadme en el cielo’.
In her story she herself meets with the ghosts of two dead friends and writers, Terenci Moix and Manuel Vázquez Montalbán.
