María San Gil had earlier announced her intention to leave politics.María San Gil, who resigned as the head of the Partido Popular in the Basque Country a year ago, and officially left politics, has signed up to join the FAES, the far right wing think tank led by the ex Prime Minister, José María Aznar.
She had previously rejected all the attempts of Mariano Rajoy to keep her in politics and also rejected an advance by Esperanza Aguirre.
Now though she joins the FAES and will take part in a conference with Aznar in Santiago de Chile on Monday.
