Hoteliers are worried about the devaluation of the Pound against the Euro. The large hotel chains operating on the Costa Blanca are launching a discount campaign with savings of up to 30% to try and fill their beds over the summer.
The hoteliers are being hit by the double whammy of the economic slowdown in Spain and the devaluation of Sterling, and are concerned that their main market, the Britons, will as a result stay away this year.
Earlier nearly all hotels had opted to freeze prices, but now
Información newspaper reports that discounts are being planned. It means that you will be able to stay in an average hotel in Benidorm this summer for 45 € a day, full board.
Hoteliers note that for New Year’s Eve in the region the average occupancy was no higher than 60%, compared to full hotels over the same bank holiday last year.
