José Joaquín Moya is suffering from health problems.
The ex-Mayor of Bigastro has been granted free bail but charges remain against José Joaquín Moya. The decision was taken by judge Joaquina de la Peña in instruction court three in Orihuela.
His release comes after more than two months in the Fontcalent prison, and now the ex Mayor has to attend the court twice a month. His release was requested by the state prosecutor and lawyer, given his poor state of health, suffering from heath and blood pressure problems.
José Joaquín Moya was Mayor of Bigastro for 25 years and resigned before entering prison. He faces charges of perversion of the course of justice, town planning irregularities, falsification of documents, bribery, misuse of public funds and carrying out negotiations prohibited for public servants.
