The 11 such centres across the region will be obliged to go private.

The education authorities in Andalucía have announced that they will no longer use public money to fund single-sex colleges in the region. There are 11 such centres which are now expected to go private.

The law change has been published in the regional Official Bulletin and gives a month for centres to apply for public funding. Most of the single sex colleges in Andalucía are religious centres run by the Opus Dei organization.
