Spaniards sleep an average of seven hours a day, and those best at it come from Aragón where insomnia is not a problem and they adore the siesta.
67% of the Aragoneses say they fall asleep as soon as they get in bed, compared to the national average of 58%.
However 19% admit that when they get up they do not feel fully refreshed, often complaining of muscle pains.
The numbers come from a study on health and rest carried out by the Spanish Bed Association ASOCAMA, and the Education Foundation of the Hospital Clínico San Carlos.
The study shows that 64% of Spaniards prefer to sleep on their side, and only 11% in Aragón change position compared to the national average of 19%.
Experts say that one of the main reasons for a bad night’s sleep is the condition of the mattress which should be changed at least every ten years. 9.8% admit to never having done so.
