Catalan police inspector rented out his flat as a brothel

He received 2,000 Euro a month and now faces charges from the court

An inspector with the Catalan autonomous police force, the Mossos d’Esquadra, has been arrested for renting out his flat as a brothel. It’s in Sant Antoni de Calonge, Gerona, and he is reported to have received 2,000 € in rent every month. He is understood to have collected the money in person and to have been fully aware of what the flat was being used for.

The inspector is named by El País as Francisco J., and was previously chief of the Comisaría in Pineda de Mar. He was identified as the owner of the property following the arrest on March 30th of the two men who ran the brothel, and who held the women who worked there against their will and forced them to work as prostitutes. Both men were remanded to custody this Monday and the women are to be deported from the country.

The inspector has been released from custody, but faces charges of a crime relating to prostitution. He is now waiting to be called to declare before the judge in charge of the case, after which the Mossos will decide if they will take any action against him themselves.
