The Princesses have the numbers reserved in the DNI identity card system in Spain
Despite what most people in Spain believe, the low numbers on DNI identity documents do not necessarily belong to the deceased.
The Prince of Asturias has the number 15, and his two daughters, the Infantas Leonor and Sofía, have the numbers 16 and 17 reserved for them.
The DNI identity paper was thought up by General Francisco Franco in March 1944, but the first card was not issued until 1951 when Franco himself had number 1, his wife Carmen Polo number 2, and his daughter Carmen Franco number 3.
In 1965 the King and Queen, then Principes de Españam were given the numbers 10 and 11, and in 1980 their daughters, Infantas Elena and Cristina were given 12 and 14.
13 has not been issued.
