Local residents consider the fiesta a symbol of coexistance
What must be the Valencia Community’s most impressive Christian and Moors festival reached a climax in Alcoy on Friday.
With beautiful, ornate costumes that manage to look both hundreds of years old and sparkling new, thousands of marchers transform the streets of Alcoy’s magnificent old city into a gigantic party.
On Friday the Moors managed to conquer the Castile as the battle reached its height, and nearly 4,000 kilos of explosives is set off.
Despite the noise and tragic origin of the fiesta, the local Aloyanos consider the celebration as a symbol of coexistence.
