King Juan Carlos has thanked the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, for what he described as his exemplary cooperation against ETA.

The complements were flowing at a Gala dinner given in the French leader’s honour by the Spanish royals in the Palacio Real. During the toast, the Monarch also indicated that only coordinated and committed action would resolve the current economic crisis, and recommended the construction of better infrastructure links between Spain and France.
He also thanked Sarkozy for the efforts made by him to ensure that Spain had a place at the G20 summit.

Monday the flash guns were popping when Carla Bruni, the French first lady, met with Princess Letizia, and the Spanish media is full of the debate on who was the most elegant or glamorous. The couple were joined by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia earlier in the day in a visit to the Prado, and today, Tuesday, Carla Bruni will visit the Reina Sofía Museum with Queen Sofía herself and then will have lunch with the Prime Minister’s wife, Sonsoles Espinosa.
