A motion to describe the resort as 'gay friendly' has been defeated in the Lloret Town HallCatalan resort, Lloret de Mar, near Girona, has voted not to be described as ‘gay friendly’. A meeting in the Town Hall rejected a proposal presented by the ERC, Catalan Republican Party, to promote the resort to the gay and lesbian community.
The motion was defeated by 12 to 7, with the PP and the CiU voting against and the Socialists and IU left wingers supporting the idea.
ERC spokesman in the town, Eduard Coloma, lamented after the vote that it had not been approved ‘for moral reasons’.
