Made in Galicia: the biggest cheese in the world larger | smaller By m.p. - May 11, 2009 - 3:20 PM 5,000 people had a taste of the one-ton giant this weekend
Thousands of people visited a cheese festival held in the town of Arzúa, Galicia, this weekend for a taste of what’s reported by 20 minutos to be the biggest cheese in the world – a monster of a cheese made with 8,000 litres of milk and measuring two metres across. The one-ton giant was produced in a mould which was specially-made for the job, and a crane had to be called in to turn it over during the curing process.
It was divided up into 5,000 portions with the help of a 2-metre saw.
