An Izquierda Unida politician in the Andalucía parliament has warned that the Development Ministry will not be able to keep to Minister José Blanco’s promise of completing the A-7 Autovía del Mediterráneo coastal motorway during this legislature. The Minister made the promise at a ceremony last week to open the final stretch of the A-44 motorway from Granada down to Motril.

Pedro Vaquero of IU is however reported by Europa Press as saying that the company contracted for the Carchuna to Castell de Ferro stretch of the A-7 has presented a modification to the route agreed, owing to difficulties encountered with the terrain. The regional MP says the alternative route will delay completion and add 1 million € to the cost. Vaquero told the news agency that an environmental impact report is currently being prepared for that section of the autovía.

Granada Hoy meanwhile reports that the Albuñol to Adra section of the Autovía del Mediterráneo, which has been closed since a rock fall at the end of January, reopened to traffic on Monday morning. The stretch from La Herradura to Taramay is set for completion at the end of July.
