RENFE has this week started to introduce the new 'Civia' model on the line to Fuengirola
Users of the cercanías local train line between Málaga and Fuengirola are in for a pleasant surprise as RENFE Spanish Railways has this week introduced its new ‘Civia’ model.
Two of the units are now in service and a third will arrive in the summer. By the end of the year five Civias will be in service.
The new trains have a top speed of 120 kms/hour, and have a larger capacity at 600, of which 227 are seated.
There are no intermediate doors between the carriages.
The name ‘Civia’ came as the result of 3,000 different names under consideration and was chosen by a team of 20 creative experts.
