The mother had been told she was expecting twins
A woman from Lobres, near Salobreña, has given birth to surprise triplets, born by Caesarian section at the Santa Ana Hospital in Motril last weekend.
María Sánchez was originally told at her first scan at 12 weeks that there was one baby, and then at another at four months, that she was going to have two baby girls. But triplets were born to the surprise of, not only the parents, but also doctors, at the hospital last Friday evening – three premature baby girls, born at seven and a half months.
EFE reports the father thought the nurses were pulling his leg when he was given the news.
The girls have been named Lorena, Esther and Miriam.
