22 survivors were rescued after the boat capsized
A search has been underway for 18 passengers of an immigrant boat which capsized on route to Tarifa who survivors say were on board when the vessel overturned.
The 22 survivors were rescued from the upturned bottom of the boat at around 9am on Thursday, and told their rescuers there were 40 people on board when they had set off from Tangiers. EFE reports that at least one of the eleven women amongst them is pregnant.
Almería has meanwhile seen its eighth immigrant boat in two days, with the arrival on Wednesday of 20 male adults on a vessel intercepted offshore. Seven small boats were intercepted on Tuesday with 116 passengers.
