The man at the centre of the Gürtel corruption allegations obtained contracts from the Madrid region worth 2.3 million
The Councillor for Tax and the Economy in the P.P. controlled Madrid regional government, Antonio Beteta, has told the Madrid Assembly that the region signed 183 contracts with companies linked to the man at the centre of the Gürtel corruption allegations, Francisco Correa, and that these contracts were worth a total 2.3 million €.
Beteta said the contracts dated from between June 19 2007 and May 19 2009, and defended them by saying that they made up less than .05 percent of total tenders.
His statement was interrupted on several occasions by the opposition and the chamber was called to order many times.
