The Spanish actor injured himself lifting an actress during filming for 'Biutiful'

Top Spanish actor, Javier Bardem, has been operated on for a hernia at a clinic in Hannover in Germany.

German magazine Bunt reports that the actor has been spending some weeks in the country with Penélope Cruz, and injured himself during filming for the movie ‘Biutiful’ when he had to lift an actress into the air.

The 40 year old was given expert advice on the medical procedure to be carried out by the medics of the German national football team, Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.

It was this injury which caused the actor to miss the last Oscar ceremony.
