The blaze, close to the city, is now under control and there are no reports of any injuries
The first major forest fire of the summer broke out in Granada at midday on Friday in the Paraje Cerro del Serrallo, not far from the city itself.
42 fire fighters worked to bring the blaze under control using three helicopters and two planes as air support for their three vehicles on the ground, and while not out the flames are not expected to extend into any further areas.
Matters were complicated by the very high temperatures on the ground.
