The man then hanged himself in the family home in Parla

An 84 year old man, named as Ricardo López Gómez, killed his wife, María Dulce Castillo Luque, at their home in Parla, Madrid and then hanged himself.

The bodies were found by their children who had arranged to meet their parents but who went searching for them when they failed to arrive as arranged. National Police say that there was no previous record of any domestic violence in the family.

Before he hanged himself the man covered the face of his dead wife with a towel and placed a crucifix on her chest. It’s thought she died from a head injury.
