The Murcia regional government has announced new measures to address the recession, which will mean tax breaks for young home owners and families.
The regional president, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, gave the news during the debate on the State of the Region, which takes place in the Murcia parliament over Monday and Tuesday. He said they are aimed at freeing up more resources and activating the economy. EFE reports the measures mean that more young home owners will be eligible for tax breaks on mortgages. For numerous families and the disabled, Valcárcel proposes a reduction in a charge made for taking out a mortgage and a 100% subsidy on another charge for reducing its size.
He also proposed a pact with the opposition parties on defending the interests of the people of Murcia in infrastructure, water and state funding of the Region.
The opposition get their chance to respond in the second day of the debate on Tuesday.
