Playing music is banned, and police permission for a barbecue must be obtained a week in advance
The Town Hall in Salobreña is cracking down on noisy bathers with a new ordinance that bans music on the local beaches. Those who play a radio or a musical instrument while enjoying a day in the sun could find themselves fined between 300 and 3,000 €, Europa Press reports.
It’s one of several measures aimed at making a trip to the shore a calm and restful experience, while at the same time guaranteeing the quality of the town’s beaches, the local beaches councillor said. Salobreña has chosen to follow the example of other towns on the Granada coast, by banning bathers from using beach umbrellas or towels to reserve their spot on the sand, and is restricting fishing in bathing areas to before 9am or after 10 o’clock at night.
There’s bad news also for the fans of the summer seaside barbecue, which now needs permission from the local police. Planning ahead is vital, as you need to make your application a week in advance and pay a deposit of 60 € to cover cleanup costs if you fail to clear up after yourself.
