The Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, has remained quiet following the ‘offer’ to him from the PP leader Mariano Rajoy who suggested he remain candidate for Mayor in 2011.

Gallardón is seen by many as the man to replace Rajoy as leader of the party, and now he has limited his comments to saying that he is concentrating on the Olympic aspirations of the Spanish capital.

He made the comments in Lausanne where he is defending the Madrid candidacy for 2016.
