Average temperatures on the Levante coast could be two degrees higher than normal this summerThe long-range weather forecast for the summer in Spain warns of higher than normal temperatures along the Levante coast and on the Balearics.
The areas affected could be as much as two degrees warmer than normal, while temperatures elsewhere in the country are expected to be normal.
Spanish Meteorological Agency spokesman, Ángel Rivera, also said that slightly more rain than normal was forecast for the summer, in Cantabria and the east of the peninsular.
He claimed the forecasts were 78%-80% accurate.
So far this year rainfall has been about 10% less than normal, despite a wet December and January, because May was very dry, especially in the western third of the country. The ground is drier than normal as a consequence with the exception of Cantabria.
