Surgeons believe the child will not lose her sight after emergency surgery to reconstruct an eyelid
A young child is recovering from emergency surgery at the Puerta del Mar Hospital in Cádiz after a savage dog attack at a campsite near Barbate last Friday. It happened at a campsite in Caños de Meca where the animal, which was tied up at the time, suddenly bit the 22 month old girl in the face.
It’s understood that surgeons have managed to reconstruct the child’s eyelid and, according to information from Europa Press, there is now no danger that she will lose her sight.
Management at the campsite told the news agency that animals are not permitted at the site during the high season, with a ban which comes into effect on 1st July; there are claims in the local Cádiz press, however, that the ban should have been effective from 14th June, reported by La Voz Digital as the reason the toddler’s parents chose that particular campsite.
