Two of those detained were living as a couple in an industrial warehouse

The National Police have arrested three suspected ETA activists in Usurbil, Guipúzcoa, including a couple of a man and a woman who had been living in an industrial warehouse.

The operation is ongoing this morning and some 70 kilos of explosives are also reported to have been recovered.

It’s thought the three, who are not found on police records, are linked to several of the attacks made recently on the AVE high speed train link being constructed in the Basque region.

The operation is being directed by the National Court judge, Baltasar Garzón, and in principle has no links to the investigation opened after the killing of the National Police Inspector, Eduardo Puelles, last Friday in Arrigorriaga, Vizcaya.

Meanwhile El Mundo reports today that the Partido Popular has said that Mariano Rajoy’s bodyguards have been removed on foreign trips. The paper says the party reports it is due to economic questions.
