A woman swallowed three gold rings from a luxury fair in the town
Five people, three men and two women, have been arrested in El Puig, Valencia, in connection with the theft of three gold rings, valued at 800,000 € taken from a luxury fair in the town. Their modus operandi was original to say the least, with one woman swallowing the rings while the rest of the team caused a distraction at the stand.
A statement from Valencia police say it took place last Thursday, and that the plans failed after the woman suffered severe stomach pains, eventually leading doctors at the La Fe hospital to operate and remove the rings.
Those arrested are aged between 27 and 42 and all are of Latin American origin. Items found in their homes, such as gloves and a wig, indicate that they have also been carrying out other thefts, and they will appear shortly before the judge in Instruction Court 2 in Valencia.
