Another Picasso painting went for a similar amount in Christie's earlier.
A colourful ‘swordsman’ painted Picasso has been sold at Sotheby’s in London for 6.98 million pounds (8.2 million €).
Called ‘Homme à l’épée’, ‘Man with sword’ the work dated on the back July 25 1969, was the most expensive item in an auction which also saw works from Kandinsky, Monet and Renoir.
The artist from Málaga has been the star of the London auction scene of late, with painting of a Picasso ‘musketeer’ going for nearly seven million € at a sale in Christie’s.
