Spain's Prince and Princess of Asturias get stuck in the lift

The royal couple and four others were stuck together for some 20 minutes in the Auditorio-Palau in Girona

The Prince and Princess of Asturias found themselves stuck in a lift with the President of the Catalan Government, José Montilla, and three other people on Friday.

It happened when the Spanish royals Felipe de Borbón and Letizia Ortiz went to an act to commemorate the formal constitution of the Prince’s Foundation in Girona. As they were leaving the lift to take them down to ground level stopped halfway.

Workers managed to half open the doors to pass water to those inside, and the Prince is reported to have joked that he and the Princess had no problem in staying there longer. The lift and its royal content was halted for some 20 minutes, and an investigation is underway.
