Spain celebrate their win against South Africa - EFE
It was cold comfort for Spain who beat South Africa in the third place play off in the Confederations Cup on Sunday.
The game was deadlocked until the last few minutes when four goals first put South Africa ahead, then Spain equalized and then led, thanks to two goals in as many minutes from Dani Güiza. That took the game into extra time where a goal from Xabi Alonso set piece was enough to separate the teams and give the bronze to Vincete del Bosque and his Spanish players.
The cup went to Brazil who came back from 2-0 down at half time to win 3-2, to top the United States from brining off an even greater surprise of the championship than the one they did by beating both Spain in the Semi-final.
The Brazilian player Kaká will meanwhile be presented as a new player with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday at 8,30pm. He is flying directly from South Africa to Madrid and has cost Real 65 million €.
