52 people have been arrested for squatting in the Madrid Casino on Monday and they now face public disorder and other charges.

It was another protest from the Rompamos el Silencio group which had earlier started squatting in the abandoned Luna cinema.

At the casino they hung a banner which asked ‘Why doesn’t the crisis enter these doors?’ and claimed that speculators have not been affected by the recession.

Police entered the building to peacefully evict the demonstrators after an hour.
