It will replace the area which used to see the train lines running into the cityThe Junta de Andalucía and the Málaga City Hall will share the cost of the new boulevard which is to be constructed where the train lines used to enter the city, fifty fifty. It ends a long row on the funding of the project now that that the trains are all running underground on their approach to the city.
The agreement to finance the works will be signed in October and the first phase will cost 19 million €.
Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, insists that the project will also attract European Feder funding.
