The Cameroon player denies having asked for a large sum as part of a deal to move to Manchester City

Eto’o intends to stay in Barcelona. That is the claim made on Tuesday by the Cameroon player’s representative, Josep María Mesalles, who noted that he still has a year to run on his contract.

It comes following the reports of the arrival of a ‘strata strophic’ offer for the player from Manchester City, and reports that the player was asking for a large sum in order to accept the deal. Mesalles denied that Eto’o had made such a request.

Meanwhile Barça are reportedly happy to extend the player’s current contract for a further year to two more, on the current wage. That offer was apparently sent by SMS text message.
