Ana Torroja facing tax enquiry in Spain

The ex singer from Mecano claims she was paying tax in Britain in 2006 and 2007

Well known in the 90’s as the lead of top Spanish group Mecano, singer Ana Torroja has been granted 1.8 million € bail by the instruction judge investigating possible charges against her of money laundering, and fiscal fraud dating from April 2007.

The money demanded by the judge would cover any possible monetary responsibilities faced by the singer, according to reports in the Diario de Mallorca.
The Spanish tax man is demanding 430,000 € from the singer for the year 2006, and 180,000 € from 2007.

The singer’s lawyer has claimed that over those years the singer was domiciled for tax purposes in the United Kingdom, and made her declarations there instead.
