RENFE Spanish railways has announced 77,500 extra seats between the Costa del Sol and Madrid on its high speed service

The AVE high speed train service between Madrid and Málaga is to be expanded by 77,500 extra seats over the summer to meet expected demand. There will now be a total number of 670,000 seats for travel between the two cities between July 1 and September 12.

Discounts of upto 60% will be available on 133,200 seats over the period, and 53,280 will be sold as ‘last minute’ tickets 24 hours before departure with discounts of upto 50%.

In addition from Wednesday two extra trains a day will run between Málaga and Fuengirola to boost the nighttime C-1 local line service over July and August.

Meanwhile it has also been revealed that new AVE high speed link will run between Málaga and Valencia in less than five hours, and come into service next year. The new service will cut the current journey time on the Arco train by half.
