Some 40,000 people turned out to welcome the Brazilian to the Bernabéu
Some 40,000 people turned out at the Sanitago Bernabéu last night to welcome the Brazilian player Kaká who flew to Madrid directly from South Africa after being part of the winning team at the Confederations Cup.
A tired looking Kaká had earlier in the day passed his Real Madrid medical, but delighted the crowd by holding up his new shirt – number eight.
When asked about any rivalry with the other big pre-season signing at Real, Cristiano Ronaldo, the player said that there was no space for jealousy.
Club President, Florentino Pérez, described the player as ‘unique and special’, and reports indicate he is just as impressed by the 27 year old player’s reputation off the field.
Kaka told the crowd ‘Today is a very special day for me. I am very happy about this new stage, and want to put my name in the history of the club which has won so many titles – Hala Madrid’.
