The woman in her 40's is thought to be from Eastern Europe
A Danish tourist, Steven Frandsen, jumped into the water on the Bil Bil beach in Benalmádena Costa at 11am on Tuesday when he saw the body of a woman floating in the water.
Civil Protection members on the beach tried to revive the woman, reported to be her in 40’s, without success.
The victim has not been identified, but is thought to have come from Eastern Europe as the only documents she was found to be carrying was a book edited in Kiev. Police have been asking local hotels if they have noted a missing guest and say they will use her fingerprints in an attempt to try to name her.
