The most serious case was a sting from a Portuguese Man o'War in Pilar de la Horadada
More than 100 people were attended by the Red Cross for
jellyfish stings along the eight coastal municipalities of Alicante province on Tuesday. The Red Cross say the creatures appeared firs on the beaches of San Juan where there were 51 cases on Tuesday compared to just 18 on Monday.
However the green flags stayed flying as there was no evidence of any banks or smacks of the invertebrates offshore. There were also 11 stings in Javea, 6 in Torrevieja, 4 in Orihuela Costa and 4 in Dénia over the day.
The most serious case was a 53 year old man who was stung in Pilar de la Horadada by a Portuguese Man o’ War just before 5pm. He was attended to by a lifeguard and then taken to the local health centre by ambulance for treatment to the stings he had on both arms and a leg.
