Some 9,000 fans turned out to welcome him after his medical on Thursday

Some 9,000 or so Real Madrid fans turned out on Thursday for the presentation of the latest new player to join the club, Raúl Albiol.

The midfield player will wear shirt number 18, and told the fans that he hoped to earn the confidence that had been placed in him.
The Valencia player is the third large name to be signed by the club since the return of Florentino Pérez as President of Real Madrid.
The club has paid 15 million € for him for five seasons.

Meanwhile the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, a well-known Barcelona supporter, has said that of all the Real Madrid new signings he prefers Kaká to Cristiano Ronaldo. He said he thought next season’s liga would be interesting, but warned that ‘el Barça es mucho Barça’.
