Special traffic controls will keep the roads moving this weekend

3,9 million journeys are forecast to be taken on the roads of Spain this weekend, as many start their summer holidays and head for the coast. Over the two summer months as a whole 84 million journeys are expected, 1.5% fewer than last year.

It’s the first ‘operación salida’ of the summer, and the traffic authorities as usual have a series of special measures in place to try to keep the traffic flowing over the weekend.

Busiest roads are set to be in the Valencia region, Murcia, Castilla la Mancha and Andalucía with the A-3 and A-4 roads carrying most traffic.

The DGT traffic authority advises drivers to check for problems on their internet site, www.dgt.es, or by calling their Spanish freephone information number 900 123 505.
There are other info services available to teletext and mobile phone users.
