Ex Mayor Julián Muñoz is accused of colluding with a Seville lawyer to get rich at the cost of Marbella
Eighteen people, including ex Marbella Mayor, Julián Muñoz, face charges from the Anti-Corruption prosecutor in a case which implicates the Seville lawyer and President of the Sevilla Football Club, José María del Nido. Del Nido faces more than 12 years in prison, and Muñoz, 14 years in the formal accusation presented by the prosecutor’s office on Friday.
Known as the ‘Minutas’ case, it relates to facturas totalling more than 3 million € invoiced by the lawyer to Marbella Town Hall and municipal companies between 2000 and 2001; the prosecutor’s office believes there are ‘abundant and evident indications’ that he and Muñoz reached an agreement to get rich at the cost of the municipality. The prosecutor notes that the Town Hall’s annual outlay on external legal services dropped by 62% after Julián Muñoz was ousted in a motion of censure in August 2003.
The case also implicates a number of ex Marbella councillors and the man at the centre of the Malaya corruption case, ex real estate advisor to the Town Hall, Juan Antonio Roca.
And it’s reported by Diario Sur that the provincial court in Málaga has now confirmed that the works of art seized from Roca in the Malaya investigation are to be used to settle part of the debts his companies maintain with the Hacienda tax authority.
They include works by Dalí and Miró and have been valued by the Junta de Andalucía at 1.6 million €.
