A 63 year old Argentinean was arrested when he collected the package

A man has been arrested after picking up a toy posted to the Correos post office in Alcoy.

Civil Guard sources said they were waiting for the man after they discovered that half a kilo of cocaine was hidden in the package. They think that the drug has been sent in a similar way to several different post offices and now they are trying to track down who organised the parcels.

It’s thought to be part of a large organisation which uses Latin American people to pick up the packages, and indeed the case in Alcoy has resulted in the arrest of a 63 year old Argentinean.

It’s understood that the gang has as many as 15 apartados or postal boxes in offices across Alicante province.
