The Ministry for the Interior wants all residents to add the contact name and number
British residents will consider that the AA is Alcoholic’s Anonymous, or perhaps remember the Automobile Association, but now in Spain the Interior Ministry has started a campaign for residents of Spain to add a new contact ‘AA’ to their mobile phones.
The ‘AA’ here is ‘Avisar a’, meaning ‘Who to contact’, and is the name of a new campaign presented by the Ministry in conjunction with the Spanish Red Cross.
The idea is that you add ‘AA’ to your mobile phone contact list and then add the number of the person to contact should you suffer an accident.
President of the Cruz Roja, Juan Manuel Suárez de Toro, described it as a very good idea, and said that it would be extremely useful for them and a guarantee that anyone who has suffered an accident has a friendly face nearby quickly.
